Ingredients

2 tsp Treacle
2 tsp Golden Syrup
1/2 tsp Mixed Spice
2 Cups Plain Flour Sifted
3 tsp Baking Powder
120g Butter
2 Eggs
1/3 Cup Brown Sugar
1/3 Cups Caster Sugar
2/3 Cup Milk
Golden Syrup To Serve
Butterscotch Sauce
2/3 Cup Cream
4 tsp Butter
1/3 Cup Dark Brown Sugar
tsp Salt

Place the treacle, golden syrup, mixed spice, flour, baking powder, butter, eggs, brown sugar, caster sugar and milk in the bowl of an electric mixer and beat until light and creamy. Spoon into a lightly greased, 1.5 litre, pudding basin or individual moulds and cover with foil.

Place in a large saucepan and pour in enough boiling water to come two-thirds up the sides of the basin. Cover with a lid and boil, topping up water, if necessary, for 2 hours or until the pudding is springy to the touch.

Invert onto a plate and pour over extra golden syrup to serve. Serves with butterscotch, custard or ice cream.

Combine all ingredients in a heavy bottomed pot.

Over low heat cook until the sugar has dissolved, do not boil.

Bring the sauce to a simmer for 3-4 minutes

Take off the heat and whisk in the salt
